Father's Day

I always found making masculine cards difficult but was quite pleased with the ones I did this year. The card above was made for my father and father-in-law and I must say it was well-received by both of them. Dad was quite surprised to feel the stitching as I had never used a needle before.

Materials:

Brown, White and Blue Cardstock
For Him - Papermania
Brown thread and needles

Tools:
PC and printer
Big Shot Ellison Design
Twang Alphabeth

How to:

  1. Cut a brown square card blank and a slightly smaller white square.
  2. Cut a piece of patterned paper, following the geometrical shapes and stick to the white card stock.
  3. Using a sewing needle prick holes 0.5cm apart all around the edges. Thread the needle in holes as shown in the picture
  4. Cut a rectangular slip of brown card stock measuring about 2.5cm wide. Print the sentiment, cut it in such a way as to leave the brown border visible.
  5. Die cut the word Dad from blue card stock and assemble everything as shown.

TIP:

Pricking holes prior to stitching helps to keep the stitching neater. It is also easier to pass the needle through the cardstock. I use a stamping foam mat in order to prepare small pricks prior to the sewing.

What a great guy card ... love how you cut along the geometric design in the paper.
