You can see the Sizzix hiding shyly behind the card. In fact, she was the Prima Donna of our stand, showing both the time and love that goes into every card. Both men and kids just loved her. Men kept asking us what it was for and kids just loved making those paper flowers. Tim Holtz, on the other hand, was one great big success with women. Living in the UK is great but I miss home and my stash. Although I realized I have gone a bit craft crazy while I have been here. Just look at my suitcase, filled to the brim with crafty stash. And where are my clothes do, you ask? The clothes I packed are a dress and bed slipper. Somewhere, somewhere underneath all that fabulosity is my dress. The bed slippers? Holding stickles and glitter glue. I guess, it's the advantage of having two wardrobes, isn't it? I intend to spend the next couple of days getting inky fingers and all messy with gesso. See you tomorrow!<div><br></div><div><br></div><div> <div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhu_ty8jkgXtSaYGIdAPtFbUi5SRqVGV_JfJWNsnjRBy_QGJSCxCaznKSV9Lt08bIpxje8uldNRbrGJFTpl3oiRYff98kvB3TqEDZOnp14FomPUd9nNKyLz3yvoil5B-YTuqRY72glm8wSt/s640/blogger-image-1603887178.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhu_ty8jkgXtSaYGIdAPtFbUi5SRqVGV_JfJWNsnjRBy_QGJSCxCaznKSV9Lt08bIpxje8uldNRbrGJFTpl3oiRYff98kvB3TqEDZOnp14FomPUd9nNKyLz3yvoil5B-YTuqRY72glm8wSt/s640/blogger-image-1603887178.jpg"></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div><br><div><br></div></div><div class="blogger-post-footer"><script type="text/javascript"><!--

How can you resist playing with a Nestie die you've been wanting for years, even if your Sizzix is miles away. Don't ask me why I never got this before, my priority shopping list always takes second stage when there is a craft sale and I end up buying whatever is on sale rather than what I covet most. <br />
<br />
This however, can lead to some serendipitous artistic moments. Such as this one - my new found love. Gesso and mixed media techniques applied to cardmaking. Can't wait to go back home and dabble a little more. I'm ordering a one litre tub of gesso to take with me. <br />

But hey, where's my desk?<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiVG_F2EVsP3r2r2IBXCn5YYdSRhRucUxOiIT34iOjs6dvMlrJ608A-vPrKLT2L2LpcoPBqUWsOScHQLmDbDebG4BwHuBb355hqh6MdTDNycfKaDpnkPZYwvCmv55GzqhlnGp77kwOoxmF0/s1600/photo+(5).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="298" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiVG_F2EVsP3r2r2IBXCn5YYdSRhRucUxOiIT34iOjs6dvMlrJ608A-vPrKLT2L2LpcoPBqUWsOScHQLmDbDebG4BwHuBb355hqh6MdTDNycfKaDpnkPZYwvCmv55GzqhlnGp77kwOoxmF0/s400/photo+(5).JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
I am sitting cross-legged on my new thick carpet, in front of a makeshift desk made from an <a href="http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/S29814960/#/S99897179" target="_blank">Ikea Poang Footstool</a>. Never thought it would serve this purpose. You'll see in the background my actual desk but hey, I'm quite happy sitting here.<br />
<br />
And here's the card I made:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgE7ycsxd-pGP-m9iJ1rIkxxYriXfAk_MTA1m4te4XzwYgpVe5Z3pdMgFjM50ExtcpXIkLMrkbNMNIe3OE2pvApw3-EcfBr6Xo30aGQrI678aNVHDT3XKs5eTreFSXuxiYUItevVGWS02te/s1600/photo+(11).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="396" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgE7ycsxd-pGP-m9iJ1rIkxxYriXfAk_MTA1m4te4XzwYgpVe5Z3pdMgFjM50ExtcpXIkLMrkbNMNIe3OE2pvApw3-EcfBr6Xo30aGQrI678aNVHDT3XKs5eTreFSXuxiYUItevVGWS02te/s400/photo+(11).JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Not so bad, considering I left all my craft stash in Malta when I came to the UK and now have to make do with what I have (or rather not have). Imagine, I don't even have a paper trimmer here yet. Oh man, was it a challenge to cut that background paper with just a ruler, a mat and scissors? No stamps or distress inks at all, nothing baby, nada. Back to basics. Hence, my new found love for decoupage sheets and stickers, they're certainly a godsend for crafters still building their stash.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I'm lucky, I know, to be able to indulge in a hobby when people out there are just struggling to heat or even keep their homes. It's sad. Hence, let's remember that for some of us, our hobbies become our refuge from whatever life throws at us. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I haven't done this in a very long while but keep visiting, I'll be putting some stuff up for grabs in the coming weeks.</div>

blog about my trip right away. He's gone now and while he's gone, I'm
sweeping the net for new stash. But first, my fab new stuff:<br />

He has been helping me carfting for some time now and has had first official lesson in stamping. He got all his fingers inky trying different techniques but the one he liked best was heat embossing. I couldn't take the gun out of his hands for a sec. Mental note: buy a heat gun and heat resistant mat for pa.<div><br></div><div>Anyway, here is what we came up with:<div><br></div><div><br><div><br></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEixM6pYUziBC2Po79B_mX_T-WLx4Cu7iPdjb1jRTayBx8wjCDB6O7IOgiCS3Bwpjrs-TwlS6of0_dVptVfqHg7ZFyxhUx0Q9XBPNPEYXBmfnOLSeuSvcuNCD4qQHlIY-yQvYB80PmwsJpx8/s640/blogger-image--342088462.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEixM6pYUziBC2Po79B_mX_T-WLx4Cu7iPdjb1jRTayBx8wjCDB6O7IOgiCS3Bwpjrs-TwlS6of0_dVptVfqHg7ZFyxhUx0Q9XBPNPEYXBmfnOLSeuSvcuNCD4qQHlIY-yQvYB80PmwsJpx8/s640/blogger-image--342088462.jpg"></a> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">The backpaper was die cut to shape and heat embossed. It is the first batch of cards I made for my friends at work in a very long long time. These are the people who have supported me in my hobby for the past six years or so (addendum: ha can you believe my ipad has just corrected my years to ears, yes go on add on 2 other pair of ears to this head of mine ....crazy tech). But digression apart, they have kept the orders (and compliments) coming even when at my initial ( and not so good) attempts at card making. How sweet of them, right? <br>

I'm really happy with the way the background paper turned out. Two great brands - Tim Holtz and Hero Arts. I must say my favorite type of stamps are the clings, even more than the clear ones. The distress inks work really fine with the rubber of the cling stamps. <br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
Another sleepless night last night or rather a tug of war with myself wondering whether to go on an online shopping spree for more Hero Arts awesomeness. Well, Ms. We Only Live Once sent Ms.Save Your Pennies straight to the ground and now (yippee) I'm waiting for a parcel to come down my way. The problem is, I have still so many unopened stamps tucked away, can't help listening to Ms. Save Your Pennies's chiding now. No, I can't tell you how much I spent (hmm better not) but who can resist the sale going on at Two Peas in a Bucket</div>

<span style="color: #cc0000;">UPDATE: </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<span style="color: #cc0000;">( Thanks for the compliment Desire!)</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
I stamped the background paper with Cling Dots (Hero Arts) and Tim Holtz Distress Ink Mustard Seed. The Forever Friends stamp Bear with Heart and cut out several times to give it a decoupage effect. The banner was stamped with a paper mania sentiment, I cut a strip of acetate and rolled it behind to achieve the 3D effect.</div>

Thanks to her and her family, I went to my first Canadian style baby shower. It was great fun, even (to my surprise) the baby food tasting/guessing session. One big applause to her pretty little nieces who have shown great hosting skills!<br />

I can't believe it. Let me just say I have been focusing on another art form - writing. But here I am now and I'll try to post every now and then. I've been doing some thorough spring cleaning in my craft room (ie gleeing over the stuff I had forgotten I have) which means I wasn't really good at throwing things out. If you live on an island where it cost an eye to ship things to you, then every speck of glitter has to be used well!<br />

Anyway, I had to take a break in the midst of dusting all my treasures (read that as Tim Holtz fabulosity) and here's what happened:<br />

So it's been a long time since you've heard of me and I haven't uploaded the promised tutorial. But it's about time I showed you what I've been working on and what's better than the <a href="http://stamping-ground.blogspot.com/2011/07/whats-on-your-workdesk-wednesday-109.html">WOYWW</a>. I'm not showing you my desk today but here is the card I finished at 1.20 in the morning for a colleague who's retiring soon. Not so bad for a late night card, what d'you think?<br />

Really thankful I can at least show off my desk at <a href="http://stamping-ground.blogspot.com/2010/12/whats-on-your-workdesk-wednesday-81.html">WOYWW</a>. December was really a busy month but I finally managed to finish off my sister's gift. It took me a lot of coaxing for her to give me some of her favourite photos. Oh, well, as they say - better late than never, isn't it?</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">I don't know about you guys but it takes me ages to finish a project. The reason is that I have to clear things away every so often or end up scrambling for whatever I need. I found a good system to keep my nesties as I go along and until I get my creative studio. Hopefully, then I'll have proper storage for them. But have a look - my lamp worked as a good hanger and there is no way I was gonna lose the things as I work. And if you're asking, yes, oh boy they were hot, but not so much that I couldn't handle. The stamps I was using found there way up there too. </div><div><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiWqxAwBVbnvf8iR0QerBtJYkYSfW_Zh72MQ-TUzcxCNdHGU3W_1ElJ5WwIO_CccYazsWeNFnAmyz8kZQXeszQOwfAz7o1dPS0LuzYkqiSDB-V1EbsUExJL0BfRr4SP8r-n2Iebjb0roTOv/s400/WOYWW2.jpg" /></div><div><div> </div></div><div class="blogger-post-footer"><script type="text/javascript"><!--

But I have a good reason.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">My production line is finally finished. And I must thank my hubby and my dad for this. Oh, well, ok and my sis and mum who helped cut some flowers, to say the least. Have a look at the photos to get an idea of the madness that was in the craft room these last few days. Monday was a holiday here and I spent the only long weekend I had this cutting and gluing. Can you guess how many cards were made in all? Do you want to know what I worked on myself? Delegation skills, ha ha. No don't worry, I would have never got away with it. In fact, I spent half of my energy keeping my hubby glued to the chair. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">So here is the first batch of coloured images ready to be assembled: </div><div><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg8VYFz59zmi7tphlqJWCnIA5ZxSsM5mjHRcWAdP_tM98KUgsr-TDaBZ2Wsrij54hCTWkcd4M_FaOV4uh6XdDlnD3w2NexESMxJMsr-S3kqwCx4aAxwSVEFugeJHedQKWZAFvVHTY8M-_iQ/s400/Making+Cards+Christmas+2010+002.jpg" /></div><div><br /></div><div>And my dad sticking ribbon to the cards. He has certainly become my craft buddy, never complaining not even when lunch was served at 4.00p.m on Sunday. Yes, that's it. My hubby. And I had strict orders not to publish his lovely face in his track suit. And can you guess where he's working? On the ironing board. Innovative, isn't it? I hope to do away with all the mess and make custom made furniture for my new Creative Studio. More about this later.</div><div><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjDQDnY-5DiLHCP1G6KAM7ZHNhhwi6SgfK_O4E_kB3WRnn2YGEInsQUOaKnYZcAXDUmgHF__U3cZR05neRayvJACxVFgn8CtpnJthnw4dJhC1hkI7eSWCvxGLvCaZW9B4r1dowGY0oTAzv_/s400/Joseph-at-Work.jpg" /></div><div><br /></div><div>And finally the end result.
